(KNSI) — A 34-year-old Freeport man is dead after a grain bin accident Tuesday afternoon.
According to a press release from the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office, a 911 call came in at 1:49 for a medical in Oak Township. The caller said the man, who police have identified as Thomas Holdvogt, was found unresponsive by a family member inside a grain bin.
The Stearns County Sheriff’s Office, the Melrose Police Department, Freeport Fire Department, Melrose Fire Department, and the Melrose Ambulance Service responded to the scene. Holdvogt was removed from the grain bin by fire personnel, and he was rushed to CentraCare Hospital in Melrose, where he was pronounced dead.
The Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office is conducting an autopsy to determine Holdvogt’s cause and manner of death.
